About me

Hi there!

Founder of RobsWare

RobsWare is founded by Rob Swartjes. Rob is an experienced OT solution architect, program manager, product-owner and software developer, combining knowledge on IT architecture with in-depth knowledge on manufacturing operations and automation. Rob is a jack of all trades, looking at any challenge with a holistic point of view. He enjoys learning by doing and likes to work on projects with a long-term perspective, starting with strategy and architecture/blueprint then work together with other team members and stakeholders on the execution of this strategy. A key focus area in strategies developed by Rob is “execution”. A strategy needs to be executable in line with budget and business needs for it to add value. The starting point for the strategy is to identify the stakeholders that you will be serving with your solution. Consider a continuous improvement program, supply chain initiatives, IT programs, maintenance programs, etc.

In order for a strategy to be executable, the solution needs to be made simple. As simple as possible. As per the words of Goethe: “In dem beschrankung zeigt sich der Meister”. A simple solution is: fit for purpose, relatively cheap, easy to understand, easy to deploy, easy to maintain and support. All key things when you are considering to develop a blueprint. Based on more than a decade of experience implementing blueprints around the world, he promotes start small, think big, and learn as you go. Focus on a proof-of-concept, then a pilot, then focus on creating a capability to change and then continue with other sites, whilst also upgrading the pilot and other previous implementations.

Rob likes to work across IT, OT, and operations and is a big fan the BPMN language to describe business processes in such a way that these can be easily understood by bot IT and operations. Engines like Camunda, that transform these diagrams into executable code inspire him, just like REST-based APIs which greatly simplify and improve the lifecycle and re-useability of complex IT solutions.

Typical characteristics of Rob are: Open, Result-driven, tenacious, investigating, learning-by-doing, innovative, enthusiastic.

If you have a challenge that fits the above profile, then I would love to get in touch to see if I can help you out. Because maybe that is what enjoy the most: Helping others out, while doing something that I love.
